GCFA Values Regarding Part-Time Faculty
The GCFA executive board endorses the following values as a starting point for any discussions on part-time issues with the Gavilan College District:
- We value equitable and consistent treatment for part-time faculty
- We value supporting instruction by part-time faculty with resources and information they need
- We value part-time faculty members' participation in academic activities (dept. meetings are an example of what this would include)
- We value part-time faculty members' inclusion in college governance (committees are an example of what this might include)
- We value part-time faculty members' inclusion in campus life (club advising is an example of what this might include)
- We value communication to and from part-time faculty on employment , academic, and college issues
- We value access by students to instructors
- We value compensating part-time faculty in a way that is competitive with nearby community colleges
- We value improving instruction by part-time faculty (for example, professional development might be a means to this)
